Deservesrecognitionasaninterestingmisunderstandingofthehallucinationgeneration,20January2007Author:TimothyFarrellfromWorcester,MAWildintheStreetscomesfromthesameschooloffilmmakingthatspawnedotherattemptstoconnecttothecounterculturesuchasSkidooandCandy.ThedifferencebetweenthisandtheaforementionedfilmsisthatWildintheStreetsisreasonablycleverandwell-made.Itisntsympathetictothecountercultureandwilllikelyoffendthosewithfondmemoriesofthetime.Surprisingly,itwasabighitwhenreleasedandappealedtotheyouthwhomitridiculedsomuch.UnlikeTheTripandPsych-Out(twootherAIPfilms),itsnotanaccuraterepresentationofthemovementatall.Howeveritdoesworkassocialsatire.ThedirectionbyBarryShearisgoodandmakesinnovativeuseofsplitscreenphotography.Plus,hekeepseverythingmovingataquickpace.Initsfunnymoments,thefilmworkswell.Initsattemptsatdrama,itshelplesslydatedandjustasfunnyasthehumorousmoments.ChristopherJonesunderplayshisroleandShellyWintersoveracts.HalHolbrookoffersthebestperformanceandDianeVarsiachievestherightnoteofgrooviness.ThescriptbyRobertThomhasitsmoments,especiallytheending(easilythemostingeniouspartofthefilm).WildintheStreetsisntperfect,butdeservesrecognitionasaninterestingmisunderstandingofthehallucinationgeneration.Thoseintothiskindofkitschwillenjoyitthemost.IdratherwatchTheTriporPsych-Outhowever.(6/10)-fromimdb
