讲述了Thisapocalypticparablecarrieswithinitaclearechoofthe1968invasionofCzechoslovakia.ThisunforgivingexplorationoftheCzechmentalitytellsthetaleofatroupeofwanderingactorswhoperformapassionplayinsomeunnamedvillage.Fearofsomeunknowndangerbreaksoutinthevillage,whichiscutofffromthesurroundingworld.Stupidity,selfishnessandaggressivenessthencometothesurfaceinthissocietyunderthreat.Inthefilmskeyscene,awomanisrapedbytheself-styledleader.ZdenukMahler,whowouldlaterworkonFormansexaminationMozartAmadeus,workedonthescript.ThedirectorEvaldSchorm(1929-1988)wasoneofthemostoriginalmembersoftheCzechNewWave.Duringthenormalizationera,Schormspentmanyyearsunabletodirect.Hislastfilm,KillingwithKindness(1988)wasonlymadeinthetwilightyearsofCommunism.Duringthatperiodwhenhewasunabletodirectfilms,hebecameanoutstandingstagedirector.HedirectedgroundbreakingproductionsattheNazábradlíTheaterandLaternaMagika.
